FAQs about Mountaincarts
Your questions, our answers! We receive certain questions time and time again – in this section, we aim to answer them as comprehensively and clearly as possible. We’re constantly adding to it :-)
When does the mountain cart season start?
Do I need to book the Mountaincarts?
What is the minimum height for children to ride a Mountaincart?
Mountaincarts are available in various sizes. Size S is suitable for riders 1.35 m or taller.
At what age can children start riding mountain carts?
A height of 1.35 m is essential for steering and braking the Mountaincarts effectively. In addition to height, individual development, experience and the ability to assess speed, braking behaviour and hazardous situations also play an important role. For this reason, the recommended age is 10 years and over.
Are young children allowed to travel on an adult’s lap?
No, unfortunately that’s not possible for safety reasons. The Mountaincarts are only suitable for one person at a time. This is in line with the manufacturer’s specifications, which we adhere to.
For younger children or siblings, there are marble run stations at the top of the hill where they can pass the time and play.
How many mountain carts are available?
There are 80 Mountaincarts in total. Normally, there are no waiting times, or only very short ones.
When it’s very busy, there may sometimes be a few minutes’ extra waiting time. But everyone will always be given a Mountaincart for the ride. :-)
How many Mountaincarts can I book?
It is advisable to make a booking for groups of 10 or more. To ensure that there are always enough Mountaincarts available for walk-in visitors, we limit bookings to a maximum of 30 Mountaincarts.
How do I find the right size Mountaincart?
We have Mountaincarts in sizes S, M and L in stock. Size S is suitable for children and smaller adults, approx. 135 to 150 cm.
Size M is suitable for heights of up to approx. 170 cm. Anyone taller than that will be well suited to an L-sized Mountaincart. However, it’s best to try them out on site and choose the Mountaincart you feel most comfortable with.
Can I stow the rucksack on the Mountaincart?
No, a rucksack should not be carried on your back, nor can it be stowed away easily. You can leave your rucksack at the top station; it will then be sent down by cable car.
Can I walk to the Mountaincarts?
Yes, that’s possible. There’s a direct path to the mountain station, which starts at the back of the Stümpflingbahn car park. Parts of this path follow the mountain cart track uphill, so please watch out for oncoming traffic.
If you’d like to go for a longer hike and get away from the hustle and bustle, you can take the route via the Grünsee. You can also hike to the Stümpfling mountain station from the other side via the Suttenstein.
All routes are described in our hiking leaflet.
Do I have to buy the Mountaincart tickets at the ticket office?
You can buy Mountaincart tickets at the ticket office down in the valley, but there’s also a ticket machine right at the top station. If, for example, you’re walking up, you can buy your tickets from the machine at the top.
